Homemade Corn Tortillas recipe

6 to 8 tortillas

Ingredients

  • 100 g corn flour
  • 100 g flour
  • 50 g butter
  • 8 cl water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch sugar

Instructions

  • Mix the flour with the salt and sugar.
    Add the diced butter. Rub it in well with your fingers.
    Gradually add the water until you get a soft dough.
    Cover with a cloth and let the dough rest for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Form the dough into a log and divide it into 6 balls.
    Lightly flour your work surface and roll out each ball of dough thinly using a rolling pin.
  • Heat a dry (no fat) skillet over medium heat. When hot, place a tortilla on top.
    Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Turn the tortilla over and cook for another 1 or 2 minutes to brown the other side the same way.
    Be careful, it burns quickly.
  • Repeat with the remaining dough.
    Place it in a large dish covered with a clean, dry cloth.
    You can quickly reheat them before serving, in a pan or in the microwave.

Notes

Be careful not to leave the tortillas in the pan too long, or they will harden.
