Here I am again after a few days of family vacation which did me the greatest good. I’m back with a recipe that I love to make, Moroccan Honey and Almond Cookies.
It is a dessert made from pastry sheets, almond powder and honey.
This time, I scented them with orange blossom but you can also make them with rose water or turmeric to be a little more original.

This is an opportunity for me to tell you about a new partnership which is starting for me with Grand Frais and which will last until the end of the year. I guess I don’t really need to introduce you to this well-known brand?
Just in case: it is a large hall under which there are 5 traders: fruit and vegetables, grocery stores from here and elsewhere, cheese shop, butcher’s shop and fish shop. The idea of this partnership is to test the different departments of the store that I usually frequent in Grenoble and then to create gourmet recipes to delight you.
I can tell you that there is a great program coming up and some surprises… So I found all the ingredients for this recipe in the grocery section and the creamery section.
What I particularly appreciate in my Grand Frais store is that the offer is sufficiently varied, that the products are fresh and that the emphasis is on regional products.
Coming back to my almond cigars, they keep well in an airtight container although I don’t think they will last long. But if they ever soften a little, you can always put them in the oven for a few minutes, plus they will be delicious a little warm.
At my house, they will be served tomorrow, for a family lunch at the end of the holidays after a lamb shank… 😉 You will see, testing them means adopting them. I am sure that these almond cigars will be a great classic of your summer… 😉
Moroccan Honey and Almond Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
- 10 sheets of brick
- 250 g almond powder
- 70 g sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch cinnamon powder
- 40 g melted butter
- 60 ml orange blossom water or more
- 1 egg white
FOR THE SYRUP
- 2 2 generous tablespoons of honey
- 125 125 ml orange blossom water
- 10 10 cl of sunflower oil for cooking
Instructions
- In a salad bowl, mix the almond powder, sugars, cinnamon and melted butter. Gradually add the orange blossom water to obtain a smooth but not liquid paste; it must be spooned.
- Cut the pastry sheets into quarters.Place a small spoonful of the almond mixture on the baking tray.
- Continue rolling the brick sheets into cigar shapes. To do this, fold the corner over the dough, then the right and left edges. Roll well and wet the edges with the egg white to seal the cigars.
- Heat the oil in a pan and place the cigars in it for 2 to 3 minutes, until they are nicely browned on all sides.
- At the same time, you can prepare the syrup. In a saucepan, gently heat the honey and orange blossom water until they thicken a little.
- At the end of cooking, place the cigars on absorbent paper for a few seconds and pour the syrup over the still hot cigars.
- Arrange the cigars on a rack and wait a few minutes before enjoying them.
