I’ve been wanting to make this Christmas tree-shaped appetizer puff pastry recipe for a while so I’m delighted to share it with you today.
This is not my first recipe for puff pastries, I had already shared an article with 3 recipe ideas, but I had never tried a Christmas tree before and for the holidays, it’s really nice and extremely very simple to do.
All you have to do is find 2 good store-bought puff pastries, a pot of pesto, a little grated parmesan and an egg yolk for gilding, and that’s it!
This recipe is so simple that it can also be easily prepared with children who will then be delighted to eat their creation. 😉
I show you the recipe step by step in the photo below, and to avoid wasting any dough after cutting the tree, I made little stars with a cookie cutter, they will be very pretty served next to your laminated fir.
You can also simply cut the scraps into strips and twist them on the same principle as the branches of the fir tree to make a sort of breadstick.

WHAT INGREDIENTS WILL YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS AFTERDAY RECIPE?
- two rolls of puff pastry (made with butter), if you wish you can always make it yourself, but a good store-bought puff pastry will do the job very well, that’s what I used in this recipe,
- a spread: basil pesto, olive tapenade, dried tomato pesto, parsley butter, Boursin…
- a little grated parmesan or pecorino,
- an egg yolk for gilding and a few seeds for decoration if you wish.
And if you wish, this recipe can also be made in a sweet version. To do this, simply replace the pesto with spread, jam, caramel, lemon cream, a mixture of butter and sugar like in cinnamon buns…
