Everyone knows about this famous avocado appetizer sauce, but I still wanted to share with you my homemade guacamole recipe because it’s easy, no-frills and too good to use without messing up the produce!
This is definitely a recipe I love to make because it’s super quick and can be made in a minute, you just need to have some good ripe avocados at home.
You can find several versions of guacamole but mine is without tomato (although you can add some) and I like it with small chunks, which is why I mash it with a fork, but if you like it smooth, feel free to chop it up.
I like to eat it mostly on toast, or with homemade pita chips, but it will also be delicious with Mexican tortilla chips.

What is guacamole?
Guacamole is a very easy to prepare Mexican specialty, perfect for fajitas, sandwiches or simply to serve as an appetizer. The word guacamole simply means “crushed avocados”.
Most people think that guacamole contains a lot of spices and don’t dare to make it at home, but this recipe contains no spices. I’ll let you discover the ingredients below…
What ingredients do you need to make a delicious homemade Guacamole recipe?
- ripe avocados
- shallot or red onion
- organic lemon
- Espelette pepper
- salt and freshly ground pepper
How to customize your guacamole?
Personally, I like the simple version in my recipe below because it allows you to taste the avocado, but if you feel like it, you can always add other ingredients like :
- fresh tomatoes, finely diced
- chopped cilantro or flat leaf parsley
- lime
- Tabasco

Homemade Guacamole {Easy Recipe}
Ingredients
- 4 ripe avocados
- 1 shallot or 1/2 red onion
- 1/2 organic lemon
- espelette pepper
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- Peel and pit the avocados and place the flesh in a bowl. Mash with a fork.
- Add the lemon juice and mix.
- Finely chop the shallot or onion and add to the avocado.
- Add the chilli, salt and pepper and mix again.
- Feel free to adjust the seasoning according to your taste.
